Job Summary

The College & Career Navigation Manager will support H2TF students through their education-to-career journey by providing expert advising, college application support, consistent outreach, and connections to other resources to assist them in their pursuit of a postsecondary education. The strong candidate will have relevant college and career advising experience as well as a history working with refugees and immigrants.

As part of a learner-centered team, the College & Career Navigation Manager will take an asset-based approach to student services that values each student’s unique experiences. They will be a highly organized and detail-oriented self-starter who excels at delivering high-impact services to students.  They will also track student records, be responsible for monitoring and reporting student achievements, as required to demonstrate outcomes to the community.

Job Responsibilities

  • Utilizing best practices, advise H2TF students about postsecondary education and career opportunities, including technical, two-year and four-year degrees and certificates, skills training, and industry-recognized credentials.

  • Deliver college access programming including, but not limited to, college application support, career advising, college campus visits, interface with admissions officers, financial aid advising, scholarship assistance, FAFSA submission and college enrollment.

  • Provide proactive and consistent outreach to new and existing students and record all student interactions in the H2TF data system in a timely manner.

  • Refer H2TF students to partner organizations for additional wrap around support, as necessary.

  • Ensure all H2TF students are fully registered in the H2TF data system, and that student records are updated in a timely manner as students achieve educational milestones.

  • Maintain accurate and current student data related to college access activities, student services, progress toward postsecondary education or training and mental health.

  • Deliver high impact college/career access and success services to students and their families through individual advising, group facilitation, and presentations.

  • Provide ongoing support and advocacy for students’ academic, career, and personal development.

  • Publish weekly updates to H2TF Executive Director on student progress and barriers.

  • Maintain healthy, collaborative, and productive relationships with all key stakeholders including students, families, high school and college staff, staff from partner organizations, community members, and funders.

  • Develop partnerships with colleges, training providers, and nonprofits to support student success.

  • Actively participate in staff meetings and contribute to growing the overall knowledge base of the organization.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Experience working with students ages 16+, especially those from immigrant or refugee backgrounds and a demonstrated passion for helping students succeed.

  • Cultural competency and ability to communicate effectively with diverse communities.

  • Familiarity with student information systems (SIS), databases, various software programs, communication tools, internet tools, to effectively serve students, track and report on student progress and work with partners and colleagues.

  • Knowledge of higher education financing, student financial aid, and/or postsecondary education entrance processes, specifically as they apply to immigrants and refugees.

  • Knowledge of alternative pathways to career success, including industry-recognized credentials, apprenticeships, and technical training programs.

  • Strong verbal communication, presentation and writing skills.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness with assigned tasks.

  • A proactive problem-solver who demonstrates strong initiative and ability to work individually and with a team.

  • Ability to operate in a professional manner including proper attire, ethical behavior, and strict confidentiality with student/family information.

  • Ability to facilitate effective collaboration and to resolve conflict.

  • A sense of humor, tolerance for change, and a demonstrated ability to create a positive culture and sense of empowerment for students/families.

  • Demonstrated commitment to engaging student voices in program design and implementation.

  • Multi-lingual (preferred)

  • Remote position with occasional in-person meetings with students, families, colleagues, and partners.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 3+ years of experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Compensation and Benefits

  • $26/hour

  • This position entails a 32-hour workweek, structured as four 8-hour days from Monday to Thursday, with Fridays designated as off days. On rare occasions, there may be a need for work during evenings or weekends.

  • Paid Federal and State holidays and Birthday PTO for all staff. 

  • Full-time staff are eligible for a Healthcare stipend annually.

Job Summary 

The Mentorship Coordinator will support H2TF students through their education-to-career journeys by connecting them to caring adult mentors who can answer questions, provide guidance and develop long-term mentor relationships. 

This position will develop and execute a pilot Mentorship Program for ORR-eligible (Refugee, Asylee and other eligible) students throughout the state of Colorado. The Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting registered H2TF Students who wish to be matched with a professional Mentor. The Coordinator will work in partnership with H2TF staff and Board to recruit and train mentors, and attend a monthly S.A.C. (Student Advisory Committee) to further develop mentorship training and outreach tools. 

The Coordinator will plan program activities, develop processes, provide monthly and quarterly reporting to the Colorado Refugee Services Program, and assist with program evaluation activities. This role will perform student outreach and support, group facilitation, mentor and mentee training and support, and will plan meet-up activities for program participants. 

The strong candidate will have relevant Mentoring experience as well as a history working with refugees and immigrants. 


Requirements

  • This position entails a 32-hour workweek, structured as four 8-hour days from Monday to Thursday, with Fridays designated as off days. This position will be required to attend one monthly Saturday morning SAC meeting and at least one Saturday community event.

  • Paid Federal and State holidays and Birthday PTO for all staff. 

  • Full-time staff are eligible for a Healthcare stipend annually.
